This event is hosted by the Department of Defense, the Department of
Commerce, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF) and sponsored
by the Association of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
This national-level forum of senior government officials and leaders from
private industry and academia will discuss the unique challenges of building
industrial partnerships in the former Soviet Union (FSU). This conference, the
14th annual ICAF
Symposium, will build upon the theme, developed in the previous symposia, of
Government, Industry and Academia working in partnership to achieve shared
goals.
This one-day event features a keynote address by Dr. William Perry, U.S.
Secretary of Defense, a luncheon address by the Honorable Ronald Brown, U.S.
Secretary of Commerce and an address by Mr. Michael Jordan of Westinghouse
Electric Corp. Following the opening sessions, discussion groups led by
government officials and private industry executives will address issues
related to brokering deals and running operations in the FSU. Executives from
both large corporations and small companies interested in the exciting
possibilities and challenges of forming profitable business partnerships with
the enterprises of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan will find this
conference a unique opportunity to discuss practical approaches and experiences
with key government and industry decision-makers.
The conference will allow the participants to engage in frank discussions
with, and gain practical knowledge from, those who have succeeded in
establishing and operating business entities in the former Soviet Union.
Middle- and Senior-level managers from industry and academia, as well as their
counterparts from the federal government, interested in expanding U.S. business
in the former Soviet Union and assisting in the conversion of FSU enterprises,
are strongly encouraged to attend.
