HOSPITAL MATERIALS MANAGERS (2) IN KAZAKHSTAN

LOCATION: Atyrau and Kulsary, Kazakhstan
DURATION: One Year
Project HOPE, a non-profit international health care education
organization, is seeking a hospital materials manager for assign-
ment in Atyrau, Kazakhstan. Project HOPE assists areas of the
world in improving the quality of care provided to the local
population by upgrading the training of local health care provid-
ers.
In cooperation with the Atyrau (Kazakhstan) Oblast Department of
Health (DOH) develop, implement and supervise a system that will
insure the safe, efficient receipt, storage and distribution to
"point of use" of all materials, supplies and equipment provided.
Provide formal and informal instruction to counterparts in the
development and operation of material management programs. Imple-
ment policies and procedures for the efficient receipt of materi-
als into Atyrau and Kulsary through customs agencies.
Establish, develop and maintain a system of safe, dry and con-
trolled temperature storage for materials and supplies. Estab-
lish, develop and maintain, a delivery system that insures the
safe, timely and accurate delivery of equipment, materials and
supplies. Establish, develop and maintain a system of account-
ability for the receipt, transport, storage and distribution of
all equipment, materials and supplies. Establish an auditing
system to insure accountability of purchases and donations.
Establish rational pharmacy and medical supply stocking systems
in the central supply facilities, central pharmacy and hospitals.
Instruct through formal and informal means, Kazakh counterparts
and selected hospital and DOH staff, in the proper operation of
effective and efficient material management systems.
PREREQUISITES: Degree in Business or Health Care Administration,
or related field. 3 to 5 years experience in the procurement,
storage, and delivery of medical equipment, materials and sup-
plies. Demonstrated competence working in a developing country.
Russian or Kazakh language speaking capability desired. Experi-
ence in utilization of computers for inventory control.
Applicants need not be U.S. citizens.
