Sorry for making this comment to the whole list but this announcement includes concepts that to me are grossly in contradiction. How can a transnational chemical corporation like Monsanto be interested in "sustainable" development technologies when the history of world agricultural development shows that "environmental sustainability" , "conservation of natural resources", "agricultural self-sufficciency", and "reduction of waste production" are concepts in complete opposition to agro-chemicals ?????What concept of sustainability are we using here when it is stated that an herbicide like Roundup "contributes to agricultural sustainability around the world"???
Am I too biased to consider that this announcement has little to do with sustainalibity but rather with corporative public relations???
