I am a student studying in the of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The
title of my final
year project is "The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award". I am not trying
to collect more
native opinion about the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award through
newsgroup. Can anyone
tell me something about...

1, Is there any example of the state award would establishing an distinctive award criteria and scoring system according to the situation of their own state?

2, Which categories of the criteria does the companies found difficult to follow and score least mark?

3, Why the no. of application falling year by year so seriously as the Baldrgie Award receiving more and more attention of public? Is it become more and more businesslike and required to spent a lot of money to apply for?

4, Someone think that is is possible that a company score high mark in Baldrige Assessment but fail in ISO 9000 registraion because ISO focus on documentation and procedure while Baldrige Award focus on continuous improvement and result obtained. Is that almost all company apply for Baldrige Award after they are registrated in ISO 9000 standard? Or any company use the ISO registration as a "kick off" step to the implementation of Total Quality Management?

5, "Baldrige Award Criteria is the most updated and prestigious definition of Total Quality Management as it is modified every year by many quality expert" Don't you agree?

6, Anybody have some personal suggestion to the baldrige award (such as certifying if scoring higher than a certain marks)to make it become more popular and successful?

or any information about the Nation Quality Award in US(such as comparison with ISO or criticism)...

I will be very happy if someone can reply me any point of view about the above questions. Your kindly reply is very useful for the Hong Kong Industry as I am preparing a general to introduce the Baldrige Award in Hong Kong.

Best Regard
