2nd Annual World Congress on Zero Emissions
(29-31 May. Chattanooga, USA)

The Tokyo-based United Nations University's Zero Emissions Research Initiative (ZERI) is sponsoring this Congress with the objectives of offering a vision of manufacturing and industrial development in the future based on the principles of sustainable development. The Congress will address issues on how to identify technological breakthroughs needed to succeed; create new jobs, new industries, and a healthier and higher quality of life; and to facilitate an effective network to speed up implementation and to secure financing of zero emissions research.

There will be representatives from many governments - President Suharto of Indonesia will speak via Internet; Vice President of the US, Albert Gore; US Representative Zach Wamp; and Ritt Bjeregaard, European Union Commissioner of the Environment.

The scientific program includes 4 main sessions: (1) Opening Session with keynote speeches (2) The Industries of the Future (3) Impact of Zero Emission Industries on the Future of Cities and Regions (4) The Role of Policy Makers in the Quest for Zero Emissions
