OPEN POSITION: Health Crisis Mitigation Specialist for OFDA
The Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), Division of Prevention,
Mitigation, Preparedness and Planning (PMPP) of the U.S. Agency for
International Development is recruiting for the position of HEALTH CRISIS
MITIGATION SPECIALIST, two year personal services contract with possible
renewal. This position is a GS13 equivalent and starts immediately.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the development and implementation of an integrated
health crisis mitigation program and integrated OFDA health strategy,
provide technical expertise to OFDA and other OFDA-funded health activities
worldwide (support will include assessment visits, project design
exercises, training development and implementation, field monitoring and
evaluation), coordinate with other donors, participate on or lead Disaster
Assistance Response Teams (DARTs) or emergency assessment teams, and
represent OFDA at international meetings and conferences. QUALIFICAITONS:
5 years demonstrated application in health sector with USAID or
PVO/NGO/IOs, masters degree in health-related field, substantive knowledge
of public health, epidemiology, nutrition, maternal health/child survival
planning and program development, and management of international health
programs. Ability to communicate effectively. Willingness to travel
overseas under hazardous conditions. Foreign language skills a plus. U.S.
citizen. Employment is contingent on the candidates ability to qualify for
a secret clearance with USAID.
