    The question of "development" was interesting when there were two contending ideologies in the world: Market capitalism, and centralized communism. With the seeming demise of communism, what are the issues to be discussed? The debate, even in China, is to what extent accept the rule of the market. Cuba is the only believer left. Could anyone shed some light on the issues of development today?

      Please unsubscribe me. I think the original idea behind this list was
      commendable, but a list is only as valuable as the subscribers make it. No
      one seems to be interested in using this list to discuss development. The
      vast majority of messages pleading to unsubscribe are distributed to
      everyone. So, I guess I will add my request to those.

      However, I do wish to commend the list originator for a valiant effort to
      help "develop development". Thank you.
