This volume presents the proceedings of the recent international
conference on "Science, Technology and Third World
Development", held in Glasgow, Scotland. The book brings

countries.

Europe, Africa and Asia. Adoption of agricultural, energy and
water technologies is examined from technical and social

and current status of technology transfer are both investigated.
Some recent developments in technology education and training are
also described and analysed. Constraints and problems are
highlighted but so, too, are constructive ways forward.
By bringing together both practical cases and intellectual
analysis, this volume helps signpost future directions in the
technology-development relationship.
