To anyone who might be interested:I am posting the following document for a friend, Woldehanna, who has just immigrated to the United States from Ethiopia. Woldehanna has over 35 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer and Manager within the various departments of Ethiopian Electric Light and Power Authority (EELPA). EELPA is a government agency solely responsible for the generation, transmission, distribution, sales and development of electrical energy in Ethiopia.
He is currently looking for a job that would utilize his skills and background in project managment, power generation, as well as energy supply in both the developing and industrialized world. Recently, he has worked as an advisor to the Ethiopian government on a hydro elecric power project, and has independently developed approppriate technology cooking appliances which are now on the market.

EXPERIENCES
ETHIOPIAN ELECTRIC LIGHT AND POWER AUTHORITY (EELPA), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
1986 - 1994 ADVISOR OF THE GILGEL GIBE HYDRO ELECTRIC PROJECT, Advised the Project Office on all aspects of the management and technical execution of the Gilgel Gibe Hydro Electric Power Project. The project was initially designed for one stage development with six units of 50 MW each and has finally been reevaluated to a two stage development of four 45 MW units. Detailed design of the project with six 50 MW plants was carried out by North Korean experts under a Technical Assistance Agreement between the governments of Ethiopia and North Korea. I was responsible for the review of all aspects of the Korean design of the project, and for communicating with the Korean experts and recommending to the Ethiopian government appropriate action for the proper implementation of the project. Because of the discovery of geological fault on the original site, the project design is now being revised for implementation at different location under the consultancy services of ENEL of Italy.
1981 - 1986 DEPARTMENT MANAGER OF TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT SERVICES AND MAINTENANCE, Undertook the design, erection and maintenance of diesel electric generating sets, transformers, and switch gear. Was responsible for the operation and maintenance of diesel stations and small hydro electric plants, and the operation of electrical, mechanical and vehicle workshops of the Authority. Researched and developed appropriate technology tools and materials for the production of ceramic equipment and electric appliances for domestic cooking and baking of traditional food stuffs. These appliances were designed to be afordable, and faster, easier and cleaner to use than traditional practices. Production has began and the appliances are already on the market.
1977 - 1981 DEPARTMENT MANAGER OF SPECIAL SERVICES, Conducted and supervised activities related to consumers' installation inspections. Enforced electricity supply regulations, and initiated sales development.
1975 - 1977 ADVISOR TO THE GENERAL MANAGER, Advised EELPA's General Manager on technical and consumer service activities including public relation and coordination of the legal affairs of the Authority.
1974 - 1975 DEPARTMENT MANAGER OF TECHNICAL SERVICES, Conducted and supervised EELPA workshops and transport service facilities, and carried out acquisition and purchase of equipment and material supplies.
1971 - 1974 DEPARTMENT MANAGER OF CONSUMER SERVICES, Conducted and supervised connection of electrical supply to consumers' premises, metering, tariff and building of electrical installation, and enforced of electric supply regulations.
1962 - 1971 HEAD OF INSPECTION DIVISION AND INSPECTION ENGINEER, Was responsible for electricity meter testing, meter installation at consumers' premises, inspection of electrical installation of buildings, and enforcement of EELPA's wiring regulations.
1959 - 1962 TECHNICAL MANAGER FOR HARAR REGION ELECTRIC SUPPLY, Was responsible for all engineering and technical activities related to electrical transmission, distribution, and inspection of electrical supply systems in Harar region where the population of the area is over 100,000.
1958 - 1959 ASSISTANT DISTRIBUTION ENGINEER, Assisted in the design, construction and operation of electrical distribution systems of EELPA.
