Dear Vita List Subscribers:
Please permit me to announce a work session titled, "Family Drinking Water
Solutions: Is Self-Help An Option?" which will take place on Tuesday,
September 12, 1995, at the Hank Shannon Room of UN Development Programme
Building DC-1, at UN Plaza, New York City. Safe Water International (SWI)
would very much like the help of those organizations and individuals with
experience in small water treatment and storage techniques to identify
self-help opportunities for those who are without safe drinking water. The
Science, Technology and Private Sector Division of the United Nations
Development Program will host these discussions.
At the session, a group of international aid and development organizations
will join with technical specialists to identify water storage and treatment
systems which have potential for wider usage at the family level. A second
task will involve setting guidelines for demonstration projects which can
determine the effectiveness and appeal of self-help water treatment
alternatives.
The meeting will be facilitated by Dr. Jerry Delli Priscoli, a consultant
to the World Bank and the UNDP on international water issues.
If you feel or any of your colleagues can make a contribution to this
activity, please let me hear from you via e-mail at: mailto:siegel@rain.org, or by
phone or fax at 805-684-3911.
Sincerely,
Larry Siegel
SWI Managing Director
