JOB ANNOUNCEMENT:

Consultants for Four Great Rivers Nature Preserve, Tibet

1. Consultant on Master Plan Formulation

OBJECTIVE: To work with the designated officials and selected master plan team to assist in creating the Master Plan for the newly proposed Four Great Rivers Nature Preserve in eastern Tibet, China. A particular requirement will be to assist in fostering a community focus in the development of the new nature preserve.

REQUIREMENTS: Experience in international development with a community focus is required as well as work experience in China. Work experience in conservation planning is also desired plus at least a basic knowledge of spoken Chinese.

TERMS: The first appointment will be for two months with remuneration based on prior background. Travel costs and per diem will be provided. A fifteen page summary report to Future Generations is expected within 45 days of the completion of the consultancy.

2. Consultant on Forestry Planning

OBJECTIVE: To work with designated officials and selected master plan team members to create a forest management component plan to the overall Master Plan for the proposed Four Great Rivers Nature Preserve. A particular need is to design appropriate and sustainable harvesting schemes with a special emphasis on creating plantations within the new preserve for growing trees for commercial harvest.

REQUIREMENTS: The consultant must have experience and formal training in timber harvesting and plantations in temperate and alpine regions emphasizing environmentally sustainable techniques. It is preferred that the consultant speak Chinese and have work experience with Chinese forest systems.

TERMS: The first appointment will be for a period of two months with remuneration based on prior background. Travel costs and per diem provided. A fifteen page summary report to Future Generations is expected with 45 days of completion of the consultancy.
