˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙
This Western Hemisphere Polyeconomic OnLine Newsletter is based on the
interest shown by many respondents to the debate on rural and urban
development I have posted to several lists. This newsletter has been
established to provide a forum for the business, industrial,
agricultural, forestry, rural development, investment, sustainable
development, environmental and rural communities in the Western
Hemisphere Internet community. It will focus on topics oriented toward
creating a livable, productive and enduring Western Hemisphere through
Entrepreneurship. Dr. Carol Cross is pleased to be your hostess and
hopes that this forum will be a means to transfer technology, provide a
medium for the creation of support, learning systems and Western
Hemisphere polyeconomic business development systems and strategies.

We expect the forum will be a springboard for the pursuit of innovative approaches to high profit investment, joint ventures, licensing, import and export products, technology transfer opportunities, financing systems production contracts, agroindustrial projects, forest industries, polyeconomic business development systems and strategies in the countries of the Caribbean Basin Initiative, Andean Trade Preference Agreement, NAFTA and all of the Western Hemisphere. Because the success of the group will be a function of the involvement of its members, Dr. Cross invites anyone with an interest and/or expertise in any of the above polyeconomic business areas to subscribe to WESHEMOL. Due to the complexities of creating sustainable profitable businesses in the Western Hemisphere and to create ONE WESTERN HEMISPHERE, we welcome input from university professors, government, ministries of economics, engineers, businesspersons, investors, suppliers, development groups, and others with similar interests. Anyone who wishes to contribute to this very vital, important and fascinating topic are invited to participate.

Dr. Cross recognizes that polyeconomic Entrepreneurship is not the only system for creating a sustainable yet open to all Western Hemisphere. However, we feel it is an idea which can add tremendously to the well being of all the people of the Western Hemisphere, its limitations notwithstanding.

The basic underpinnings of the list is Polyeconomic which is a new term coined by Dr. Cross.

WHAT IS POLYECONOMICS AND WHY DOES IT MATTER IN THE EAF WORLD

Polyeconomics is the economic equivalent of community ecology in the natural environment. All components of the system are valuable and if any group does not play its role in the community, the entire system could fall into disarray The same concept applies to the countries the World Polyeconomy must develop sustainable industries so they can flourish and make their own unique contributions. The world polyeconomic systems flow more and toward a global economy. Polyeconomics is based on ecology, on the model of natural communities, modified for human cultures and civilizations. Just as there are trophic levels in the natural ecosystems including producers, consumers, decomposers, so do human populations and countries fall into discrete levels of development.

Some of the Development Levels of economic production include:

RAW MATERIALS SUPPLIERS MANUFACTURING COUNTRIES INFORMATION NEXUSES FINANCIAL RESOURCE BASES HI TECH MANUFACTURERS LABOR SUPPLIERS COUNTRIES IN TRANSITlON MULTI DEVELOPMENT LEVEL COUNTRIES

As defined by EcoAgroForestry Trade and Development Center(EAFTDC), based on the natural community model, a polyeconomy is:

An international business and development system, massive in size, trandscending national boundaries, maintaining the integrity of each members unique language (though English has become the world polyeconomic language), cultural framework which interfaces all the countries of the world.

EAFTDC believes that the Polyeconomy in development cannot be halted by barriers of trade, protectionism, import substitution, all are futile in the face of this evolutionary thrust of EarthHumans. All will fall in the end before the onslaught of the forces behind the world polyeconomy.

Thus the world Polyeconomy is the ultimate interacting, interfacing World community of EarthHumans on the EarthHome.

National sovereignty is not involved. Language change is not necessarily involved for the majority of the people in a country. We know that American English has become the Language of the Polyeconomy, driven by commerce, scholarship and one of the newest EarthHuman paradigm shift, the Internet. Cultural integrity is not involved. Neither local cultures, nor local languages, nor local cultures/lifestyle need change within the heartland of any country.

Most of the people of most countries in the world will not interface in the Polyeconomy. Just as most animals within a territory do not impinge on the outer boundaries of the total range of that species, 90% of the people will not meet. Cultures and nations need only be flexible on the outer boundaries of science, technology and trade. Note that interacting members of the Polyeconomy

Are you involved in business in the Western Hemisphere, are an equipment supplier, an investor, an entrepreneur, a landowner or just care about sustainable development in the Western Hemisphere? I would like to invite you to participate in a lively discussion of how entrepreneurship can meet the need for sustainable development here in our hemisphere. Business is the contributor to governments. The taxes come from businesses and individuals, but the individuals get their money in wages from corporations (or government via corporations). Corporations also give to foundations who support nonprofit groups as do individuals (via their income source, ultimately businesses).

There is only one source of resources on this planet and it is the difference between what it costs to produce a product and what the product can be sold for. This differential is thus the only source of the resources needed to feed, clothe and shelter the growing populations in the Western Hemisphere, create sustainable communities and enable us to continue to live on the EarthHome.

We can work together in the Western Hemisphere and prosper. Business does not have to be destructive, as many green businesses already are witness to. Polyeconomic Entrepreneurship is designed to be a win-win scenario for all. We will all die or live together in this hemisphere. Why not work together and maybe we can all live a decent life. That is why we must all work together.

I look forward to your contributions. Dr. Carol Cross
