Hello everyone, As you may recall this list was suspended this summer while I w
as away. I spent some time coordinating an Earthwatch project in Crete, Greece
. With my collegues we trapped and released approx. 100 Wild Cretan Mountain G
oats(Agrimi) and got morphometric information and blood samples for DNA analysi
s. The Greek forrestry service will use results and information from this stud
y to manage this animal whose numbers are diminished.
It is nice to be back and to prepare for another semester here at URI
where I teach courses in International development and coordinate a University
wide minor in International Development. This January I hope to return with st
udents to Costa Rica to visit the Coffee Country. Last January 11 of us stayed
with families, participated in the harvest of coffee and toured natural resouce
areas.
