Dear list members,As this is my first posting, let me introduce myself. My name is Fiona Power and I work for ID21, the Development Research Report service, recently created by the UK Government Department for International Development (DFID). Members of the list may find our resources (which are entirely free of charge) useful, so here is a brief description.
Academics, consultants and NGOs based in the UK produce a constant stream of development research findings. Yet all too often, those who make or implement development policy are unaware of this new information and its policy implications. ID21 (Information for Development in the 21st Century) is an attempt to bridge that gap by using the Internet to link policymakers and development practitioners around the world directly to development research and researchers. Hosted by the Institute of Development Studies, UK, ID21's key feature is a searchable online collection of short, one-page (500-word) digests of the latest social and economic research studies across thirty key topic fields.
ID21 is online at: http://www.id21.org
But many users prefer e-mail to the Web, so we have also created an e-mail newsletter called ID21NEWS which carries regular updates of the latest research findings which have been added to the ID21 collection.
To subscribe to ID21NEWS send a blank e-mail message to: mailto:id21news@ids.ac.uk, including the words: subscribe id21news, in the subject field.
Thank you,
Fiona Power
