***Message from Amit Nigam <mailto:anigam@ifc.org <mailto:anigam@ifc.org> > regarding corporate foundations and community development initiatives.*** I am beginning to work on a project on corporate foundations and community development initiatives at the International Finance Corporation. I am hoping to find good-practice examples of corporate foundations and community development initiatives that attempt to benefit communities that are affected by a company's operations. The hope is that doing a handful of detailed case studies of effective community development initiatives undertaken by corporations would help us come up with guidelines for IFC clients who are attempting to set up community development initiatives or corporate foundations of their own. I am in the process of both scouting out for examples and of looking into examples that I have already identified as prospective good practice initiatives. If anybody could either suggest names of companies that have set up foundations or community development programs that are participatory, effective and sustainable, or generally point me to some relevent literature on the theme, I would highly appreciate it. Thanks in advance for all of your help. Sincerely, Amit Nigam Social Review Unit International Finance Corporation
