The Education for Development Workgroup of the Society for International Development--Washington, D.C. chapter cordially invites you to attend a lecture entitled: "Involving Communities to Improve Basic Education in Uganda." Come and hear a description of Uganda's low cost, focused, and universal coverage approach to involving parents and comm nity leaders in improving basic education. Presentation will include a summary of the outreach activities used to mobilize communities and excerpts from the USAID/World Bank video, Education for All: The U anda Experience. Sample copies of the locally-developed manual and accompanying visuals used to support the activities will be displayed.
The lecture will be given by: T. B. Kirokimu, Education Officer and Lead Officer for Community Mobilization in the Ministry of Education and Sports in Uganda. Samuel Onek, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Sports in Uganda; and William Kromer, Chief of Party, Support for Uganda Primary Education Reform (SUPER), will also contribute to the lecture The event will take place on Friday, August 20, 1999 from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM in the Conference Room of Creative Associates International, Inc.; 5301 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Suite 700; Washington, DC 20015.
