A CALL FOR POEMS

The above-named project intends to participate in the current discussions on the plight of the Ogoni people_ a minority ethnic group occupying an oil rich area in Nigeria. The intention here is to highlight the dilemma of the Ogonis, by exploring the themes of human and enviromental exploitation, resistance to oppression and tribute to heroic struggle. We would therefore welcome any poems from any interested persons anywhere in the world. The deadline for submission has been extended to DECEMBER 30, 1995, after which contributors will be informed of final decisions on their works. All entries should include short biographical notes and should be forewarded to Abdul-Rasheed Na'Allah in the following departmental or e-mail addresses:

Department of Modern Languages and Comparative Studies University of Alberta, Edmonton Canada T6G 2E6

E-mail: mailto:anaallah@gpu.srv.ualberta.ca

Please endeavour to accord this notice a wider circulation. Thank you.

Abdul-Rasheed Na'Allah.
