I checked with Houghton Mifflin at 800-829-7962 this evening at about 5:55PM EST. I got the number from 800 directory service.The customer service representative said it was a valid offer. The head office number is 617-351-5000. I'm going to try the 800 number again Monday and see if the head office (on the east coast) answers.
