With  thanks  to Lisa Hayden of the  Institute  of  International
Education  (IIE)  office in Moscow, I am providing below  an  an-
nouncement  that may be of interest to some members of the  list.
You will note that the Fellowships are for U.S. citizens.  Inter-
national  list members may want to inform their  U.S.  colleagues
about  this opportunity. Please direct any inquiries to the  con-

              Professional Development Fellowships
*****************************************************************
Fellowships for periods of three to seven months covering  inter-
national  transportation,  a monthly living stipend,  health  in-
surance  and  allowances  for books and travel  within  the  host
country  are available to Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus,  Georgia,
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine  and
Uzbekistan.

These Fellowships are available to U.S. citizens currently en- rolled in their second or terminal year of graduate or profes- sional school, or to recent graduates of those schools in the fields of business and economics, law, journalism, public admin- istration, environmental management, education reform, public health and information science.

Fellows will travel to a country to deepen their understanding of the current reforms and become familiar with the scholarly re- sources in their fields in their country of assignment.
