Dear Nora,

We do not know each, but I have experience and interests in proposal writing, too; and I believe that it is something of a specialty.

I'd like to offer you a suggestion to help you promote your work, and to encourage the actual sales volume of your book. And I would like to charge you $.25 for my consultation in these regards.

I will give you my suggestion, without any obligation, on your part.

My suggestion is this: forward five (5) ways to write better proposals, from your book, to the list, asking for comments and feedback, observations and anecdotes, explaining, that you have a book on the topic, written from extensive experience, and that your services are available, as a professional proposal writer.

If you decide to follow through on my suggestion, you will see that you have given up information, which you have valued at about $.25, which is equal to the value I've place on my small consulation here. So, we will have effected a fair trade, and I will be satisfied. More importantly, you will have shared a sample of your work with your market, at little expense (call it your advertising budget) and with no risk to the asset you hold as your intellectual property.

People will be impressed. You will attract, in response, a e-mail box full of self-qualified prospects, and valuable market feedback. Even if you only get ten e-mails back, it will be more than, if you do nothing; and its more likely that you will not only make a sale, but that you will find clients, who want creative, forward thinking, cooperative, open minded experts in this field, with talent and experience, who are ready, willing, and able to go to work on the tasks at hand.

This is a market test. It is only a test. You cannot fail. You can only succeed.

Yours truly, Ross
