Dear Friends, I made a mistake (and I am sorry) - the right address
for the Information Center for Social Development is:

There is also another interesting paper about "open factories" a new concept we are developing here, where the unemployment is a very actual concern: An "open factory" is a place where anyone can work, producing very basic goods to be sold to the community. The place (a cooperative working site) provides the machines and the raw materials, the people give their time and labor. You can take with you 25% of your production, to use or to sell; the cooperative holds 75% of your production to use, to give or to sell, but it must keep the machines in operating conditions and the raw materials available for those needing to work. We have inaugurated the first just today, in Santa Maria; next Friday we will open another one in another satellite city nearby Brasilia, and again in the next following Friday, in another poor satellite city.

You can read about our community development projects at http://webwrite.com/partners.bsb-dc/develop.htm (in English)

The texts in Portuguese can be read if you visit our course on "Reading Portuguese" and train for a while.
