"Patient, difficult?" Sorry Steve.. if it's boring, no one is going to want to do it, and that doesn't make it any more meaningful.

That's for sure. But the larger the community, the more likely to take positions that will eventually generate a counter in society.

Respect is a good thing. But I'm not so sure about the resource issues.

The truth of finding value in establishing ongoing relationships with people that have different beliefs and cultures?
Or the truth of building a political group to satisfy ego?
The first one is from the "I" position. The second from the "we" position.
I think that I prefer the first one.
