Dear friends:I have been involved into some of these junk mail discussions. he solution is simple: Use the technology available in your mail programs. As you can see, all mailings have a header. Filter it. I do have however, written some messages to the close DEVELTHEORY group and there is few conversation going on. I cannot see the difference since for me, all the postings with the THEORY: header are filtered directly to the DEVELTHEORY subdirectoy.
To make this, a list of mere announcements is absolutely non-sense. And surely would reflect that the spirit of questioning that should make any professional activity evolve is gone among a group of distinguished development professionals
I do consider, as I have said it many times in the past that I consider most disrespectful to consider other people's opinions mere "junk" and even more if the opinion of the person who defines it is not heard. Other thing is that the posting is NOT in the interest of such person That is another story, then use the technology available and then let it do the trick. If you think noone is interested, you would be surprised how many are.
I would suggest you all using the technology available at no cost. For example, Pegasus Mail is free for downloading and even handles a type of filter that deletes automatically any message with a certain caracteristic, say THEORY: anywhere on the subject title.
In my case, I do consider more valuable to do automatic deleting of a subject title with the heading JUNK MAIL on it.
