Over the years many of us have tried to teach some of you that many people around the world pay for receiving EVERY BYTE of EVERY MESSAGE *BEFORE* they get the chance to filter it. Filtering after receipt is no solution. The only solution is for PEOPLE to THINK, be CONSIDERATE, and "filter" their outgoing diatribes BEFORE sending them. Before you send a message or reply to a message, imagine that you have to pay for the long distance phone call at 300 baud from Beijing to San Francisco to upload and download every message on this list...

Agreed. But it is even worse to allow the list to be kidnapped by five or six people who want to discuss, ad nauseum, philosophical points that have as much chance of gaining closure as there is in resolving how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.
