Two international program positions are available:
* Area Representative for Mainland Southeast Asia
World Neighbors seeks an Area Representative for Mainland Southeast Asia. Position is for 3-5 years beginning in June 1998, based in Hanoi, Vietnam. Coordinate planning, implementation and monitoring of program focused on natural resource management in the uplands of Vietnam. Provide training and support to national staff to achieve program objectives. Develop and implement a longer-term regional plan, with possible expansion to China, Laos and/or Cambodia. Ensure quality documentation and reporting on programs, and maintain relations with peer agencies, Vietnamese government agencies, foundations and the US office of World Neighbors. Position requires 3-5 years relevant experience on the ground in development management in the region especially in Vietnam; ability to negotiate with local and central level partners and to guide program development; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work cross-culturally; experience in strategic planning; and availability to travel 30% of the time. Vietnamese language skills strongly preferred (additional knowledge of other Southeast Asian languages desirable.) The deadline for this position is April 3, 1998. World Neighbors seeks an Area Representative for Central America, Mexico and Haiti. Position is for 3-5 years beginning in June 1998, based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, with possible relocation to another country. Will develop and implement longer-term strategic plan for region, with possible geographic expansion. Provide leadership and support to country coordinators in Honduras, Mexico and Haiti, visiting programs and assisting planning and monitoring activities. Ensure quality documentation and reporting on programs, and maintain relations with peer agencies, foundations and the World Neighbors office in Oklahoma City. Position requires 5-10 years relevant experience in the geographic area, prior management experience, excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work cross-culturally, experience in strategic planning, availability to travel 30-40% of the time, and fluency in Spanish (additional fluency in French a/o Haitian Creole desirable.)
