Hello,I am looking for a bit of help with a project I am working on and hope you can point me in the right direction(s). I am a contractor at the NOAA Coastal Services Center in South Carolina, USA and am working on a project to identify and document successful transfer of sea level rise adaptation technologies. This may seem very specific or rather broad, depending on your point of view, but the way we have broken down the project, it actually covers a good bit of territory.
What I need are case studies (documentation, anecdotal, word of mouth) of successes w/ these types of technologies. We have broken down our search into the following technology sectors, which should not be considered an exhaustive listing.
1) information and awareness - looking at the collection of data and the tools for collecting data in coastal areas (water quality monitoring instrumentation, remote sensing, etc...)
2) planning and design - modeling, including watershed, beach nourishment, sediment transport, GIS tools, etc...
3) implementation - building coastal engineering structures, habitat restoration techniques, building construction technologies, and also legislative, regulatory, and zoning issues related to implementing comprehensive land use plans in coastal areas
Specifically, I am looking for technologies that have already been transferred and are being applied, especially in the field of coastal/zone/coastal ocean management. Examples might be remote sensing technologies, GIS applications, water quality sensors, engineering for coastal protection. Contacts including researchers, commercial operations, licensees, etc... would be helpful, as would any publications or documentation regarding the successful transfer of the technology. I would very much appreciate any help you can provide, and hope that you will forward this request to others who may be able to respond.
Please contact me by email or phone as indicated below, as I am not a member of this listserv. Thanks for your time, and for any help that you can provide.
Sincerely,
Jim Boyd
