Background · Renewable energy sources and energy efficiency are the cornerstones of any sustainable energy policy. The WORLD SUSTAINABLE ENERGY DAY 1999 will provide a forum for demonstrating successful policies, programmes and projects from all over the world; for discussing future political initiatives; and for launching new initiatives. · The WORLD SUSTAINABLE ENERGY DAY continues the tradition of past World Energy Efficiency Days with more than 400 participants from 50 countries in 1998. · The conference will be held in the framework of the "Energiesparmesse", an energy trade fair that attracted more than 225,000 visitors in 1998.
