Mr. ManiIf you are feel so much for this subject, perhaps you will give up your world bank salary and go at the Indian salary.
I am all for paying people what they are worth and not forcing them to take a discount for some philosophical reasons. Should the Bank be willing to agree with this principle and be willing to pay a marlet rate for such a positon, I will go. But the Bank will only give you fat cat salaries here in Washington and not to people to go bak to their coutnries-- even if the latter will lead to genuine capacity building. The Bank likes to maintain a hypocritical position that their own people live like lords and the poor country professionals will starve. I think it is almost by design so that the Bank will never be rendered obselete. After all when the poor countries are professionally staffed, why will we need the Bank.
I am in exile because of this philosophy and therefore, reserve my right to scoff at salary structures that are out of synch with market conditons, even if the Bank blesses them. >
