These computers are not trash. They are and remain the only reliable,
full-size keyboard, AA-battery powered, computer. They have built in word
processor, 300baud modem (plenty fast for local lines in the dozen
African countries where I've worked), and a great survivability. They
don't use floppies. They have a very simple computer-to-computer transfer
protocol, and, all in all, are a terrific bargain. They can also be used
as a great terminal for a packet radio set-up, can program in BASIC. and
a whole lot of other things. Sure they operate at 3.5 mhz , but that is
plenty fast for the application. Oh yeah, they can read email via the
built in terminal program. I have two an M100 and an M102. I'm keeping
mine and use them daily ... about 2.5 lbs worth.
