Dear Friends,We in Brasilia appreciate your discussion on hard/software=20 and development, and we are pleased to invite you to foster an=20 actual and practical collaboration path on this issue, interacting=20 with the Brazilian poor population, their leaders and=20 organizations, and the Partners of the Americas. Our point-of-view=20 is that, of course, along with the computers, it is important to=20 research, gather and structure, in electronic form, all the=20 information the people will need to get and that they will produce.
So, to fully explore the Internet possibilities, we are trying to=20 articulate the international electronic collaboration potentially existing here, in this list, into a very practical way. Since we=20 have started, many people from the US, Europe, Africa and Asia=20 (by frequency, please..) have written us to tell about their will to=20 participate, and some are really doing it. Anyway, we think we=20 need a little more effective communication among us - e-mail is=20 wonderful but a WEB page could keep available some basic=20 information, the historical data, updates etc. about each other's=20 projects, so everybody could be informed about their background,=20 perspectives, needs etc., and better collaborate.
Thus, we are developing a page (about community/international development, micro credit, and local development projects) http://www.persocom.com/partners There, we are organizing the information (and links) the most=20 relevant for the communities' organizations, their leaders and=20 members, for the governmental agencies, the NGOs, the academic=20 community, whoever interested on social-personal development.=20 With such a home page, we would make sure that nobody (in those groups above) ignores the possible alternative and sustainable solutions that could enhance the populations' standard of life. =20
We have been researching other WEB pages on development and we think we should organize one page (ours?) or an integrated=20 system of home pages (ours and yours) where - in the next=20 future - the poor communities' organizations could find all the relevant information they need to better manage their problems and resources.=20 1=BE
