Tony, We would like to receive more info about your (proposed) organization.
We are a non-profit organization whose main purport is to promote the use and development of computing and communications technologies in Africa. One of the things that we do is to solicit for new and refurbished equipment to re-donate to deserving public and other non-profit institutions - eg. schools, hospitals, etc. Our focus to date has been on Kenya and environs.
While I very much like and is optimistic of many of the suggestions being made on the net, my sad experience is that for such a "project" to succeed, there is much that needs to be put first in place, one of them being "resources". There are of course other pertinent issues: identifying partners with a genuine interest, undestanding local environment, educating end-user recipients to appreciate and meaningfully utilize donated equipment, etc.
Who ever chooses to take up this proposal further, please count on our organization as an interested, willing (but cautious) partner.
