Hi all: Wanted to let you know that I wrote John Bart-Plange <mailto:jbp@aau.org> of the Association of African Universities in Accra, Ghana, following Rhoda Gilman's post **The next move is to ask whether this project (or something like it) could be extended to Africa. That move, I think, must come from someone in Africa, preferably a college or library association**. His response follows. Also, please note that the original post about Bridge to Africa already indicates there is an initiative under way there to extend their work toward Africa: >>Gretchen Walsh, M.L.I.S.
>>Librarian, African Studies Library, Boston University. Has operated
>>book-donation projects for Africa, will help plan an extension of our
>>projects for countries in Africa.
Here's John's enthusiastic -and very prompt- response (Sorry it's in ScreamType. I did something wrong while downloading my mail and everything arrived this way): ----------------------------------------- DATE: TUE, 9 JAN 1996 16:19:02 GMT FROM: JOHN BART-PLANGE <mailto:JBP@AAU.ORG> TO: SANTIAGO HILERET <mailto:STYAGO@INTERCOM.COM> SUBJECT: RE: INTERESTING DEVELOPMENTS HI SANTIAGO: HAVE COME IN LATE TODAY TO FIND THIS AND I HAVE TO GO OUT AGAIN. VERY INTERESTING DEVELOPMENTS, INDEED. PLEASE GO AHEAD TO SEND ANY OTHER INFO. WE ARE ALIVE AND WELL DOWN HERE. I SHALL RESPOND FULLY TO YOUR MAIL TOMORROW.
