International Conference on Agricultural and Biological Environment (ICABE)

                  First Announcement and Call for Papers

Introduction The science and technology of animal and plant production in controlled environment and animal manure management for environmental pollution prevention are developing rapidly worldwide. To facilitate information exchange and promote advancement on all aspects of research and development, engineering design and education/outreach programs, Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering (CSAE), China Agricultural University, and Zhejiang Agricultural University are cooperating to organize the Frist International Conference on Agricultural and Biological Environment Engineering (ICABE)in China during 15th - 20th, August, 1996.

The cosponsors for this conference include American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE), American Society of Aquaculture, and UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Network on Appropriate Agricultural Technology and Community Development.

Theme and Presentation Subject Areas of the Conference

1. Housing and environment control for animal and plant production - Structural and equipment design considerations - Sensors and computer applications in environment control - Thermal and air quality environment control

2. Environment control and water management in aquaculture production - Monitoring and controlling of water quality for aquaculture - New technology for aquacultural production

3. Advanced farming technologies - Global Positioning Systems (GPS) development and applications - Precision farming technologies and practices - Soilless culture technology

4. Environmental impact and pollution control of intensive farming - Water quality issues - Air quality issues

5. Animal waste management and utilization for large-scale animal production - Storage, transportation, and land application of animal manure - Treatment processes and systems for animal manure, and animal processing wastewater - Safe disposal of animal mortality

6. Sustainable Agriculture - Nutrient management planning - Policy making and governing regulations - Renewable and biomass energy for rural area

7. Effective education programs in agricultural and biological environment engineering

Call for papers All papers in the areas mentioned above are called for. Please send the abstract (about 300 words in English) before March 1, 1996 and the camera read

Language The language of the conference is English.

Locate The conference will be held at Campus of China Agricultural University or in Chengde city(Hebei Province, famous temples of Qing Dynasty). Technique tour (i) local tour in Beijing and Chengde city . (ii) to Zhejiang Agricultural University, Zhejiang Province. Registration Fee Before 1th, July After 1th, July CSAE ASAE member $350 $380 ASA Nonmember $380 $400 This fee will cover the cost of one copy of the conference proceedings, lunches, reception, banquet, coffee break, technique tour in Beijing, transportation to Chengde city.
