Dear Barb, sorry to reply in public, but my mailer does not show correct headers and I can't see your e-mail address.
As to this list: I have been on this list for the last six years, sometimes more active, sometimes (like right now) less.
private NGO in Arlington, Virginia involved in development work. It should presumably and preferably be a forum for people from developing countries seeking help, and those interested in helping out with information on e.g. how to make this out of that, how to find this kind of tool, etc.
However, many on this list also take it as a general discussion and philosophizing list, which is unfortunate, since the high bandwidth consumed through these sometimes futile discussions causes many from developing countries who pay for e-mail to drop off the list.
The climate on this list in general is quite cooperative and most people here, I believe, share a serious concern for the well-being of our world.
As often, not everyone holds the same views and beliefs, so some rough words every now and so often creep up, but most flame-wars don't last too long.
We'd all be pleased, I believe to be allowed to say in the name of the lists subscribers, to hear your voice as well here.
Best regards, and a happy new year to all.
