People that don't respect other individuals is what I believe is the main reason.
No more response on the list, since I respect the purpose of this list, namely that of "Technology Transfer In Internation Development". JC, In case you didn't notice, the FAQ for this list was posted yesterday. Perhaps you just responded to my message before you got to the FAQ, but whatever the situation, please don't attempt to continue this conversation on the list.
If you really want a dialog, we can continue this in private and summarize the relevant parts back to DEVEL-L. Believe in Technology often approachs that of belief in a religion, but that's another topic. There is also the Monotheistic vs. poly theistic viewpoint discussion that seems to be coming up for me quite a bit, and certainly the social structures that are founded around those differing viewpoints has an effect on the effective transfer of technology in Intenational Development.
