12Dec96 EU: DEADLINE FOR RURAL WOMEN PROJECT PROPOSALS EXTENDED. The European Commission has decided to extend the deadline for the submission of proposals for pilot and demonstration projects relating to women in rural areas until February 20, 1997. The call for proposals launched in September has attracted over 1,000 enquiries and the Commission wants to give interested parties more time to prepare their proposals. Some ECU 20m is to be allocated over 3 years to finance projects designed to improve the situation of women in rural areas, who are seen as being at a disadvantage to their urban sisters in terms of overall facilities available.
