Dear friends:Sincerely, a discussion regarding pure Capitalism is unnecessary because such thing does not exist. In every country, even in the one with the most corrupted government or capitalist one -is it USA? I don't think so-. Government leads a role of regulation. And the non-chaotic societies in which we live have elements of both.
I cannot imagine an scenario where any of you would have to live in the perfect individualist scenario or the perfect collectivist one. Human beings, -the ones that work under those rules- include both collective and individual aspects of behaviour.
On the other hand, you are assumming that the attitude of input-> natural resources and output->waste will remain indefinitely. The realisation of our self-destruction has already occurred and that is how today, our sons are being educated in a different way.
Realize also that the definite end of resources would mark the end of our specie and hence, the end of any form of economic activity. That is why perhaps the conscience of keeping natural resources, paradoxically, is being pushed on capitalist economies. In other words, it is economically "profitable" to do so.
Finally, entering into perhaps SciFi considerations, it is evident that sooner or later our civilization as we know it will have to expand beyond the limits of our planet. Do not be surprised that in 20-30 years the lack of some basic minerals will push mining in, for instance, the moon.
