The attached inquiry arrived from Hungary this morning. I do not
believe the programs described are eligible for ACLS funding. But
perhaps someone on the list would like to respond to, and possi-
bly work with, this organization - or identify useful sources of
additional information. If you do not have your map of Hungary
handy, Godollo is a bit northeast of Budapest. I have no personal
knowledge of the organization.

Dear Mr. McConnell,

You are kindly requested to send detailed information about the ACLS support. We are a company working in the field of agriculture. We are serving the Hungarian agricultural sector by organizing conferences, meetings, workshops and study trips to foreign countries. These meetings are partly special ones, dealing with animal breeding, nutrition, reproduction biology, etc. Several meetings deal with general problems, focusing the present and future possibilities of the sector in countries under transition. Last year e.g. we organized a meeting together with FAO, under the title: Workshop on Organization and Funding of Animal Production Research in the Central and Eastern European Countries. We also gave the technical background for a meeting with participation of specialists from Central and Eastern European countries organized with the title: Beliefs and values in agricultural policies. This meeting was initiated and financed by the National Center for Food and Agricultural Policy (US). In order to be able to continue this activity, a support like ACLS would be of great value for us.

Your cooperation in the above subject would be highly appreciated.

Sincerely yours,
