I am conducting research for a project to develop an education resource on the topic of sustainable development. We will be using the UN published 'Indicators of Sustainable Development' (August 1996) in order to construct a framework which will enable the student to assess the impact of specific initiatives. Can anyone on this newsgroup help me with the following: 1: References for predictions/forecasting on the state of the world through to the year 2050. 2: Feedback on why it is important, within the development context, that the following issues are researched and considered when designing development programmes: a) Conflict b) Development Co-operation c) Financing for the poor d) Education e) HIV/AIDS f) Natural resources g) UrbanisationSorry if the second query sounds vague... An example might help.? Conflict could be viewed as an important issue because people are displaced, infrastructure is damaged, people are injured or killed, economic costs etc.
Yes, I and the team I am working with have many ideas of why these issues are worthy of consideration, but we would like to take into account as many divergent points of view as possible so that the final product will provide an objective resource for students.
Thanks, in advance, for any and all responses.
