Dear friends:

Do you think then that "development" has to do with sustaining a primitive rural life?

I do not agree with following paths or taking a role model, but, don't you think the level of rural development is US or Spain is significantly higher in *standard of living* terms than the one in, for instance, Mandalay or, of course, Zaire or Colombia? -with great differences among them of course...

And don't you think that we in developing countries deserve such a thing? -I am not calling development in order of not falling into a semantic discussion..- Is it bad or goes against our cultural values to have health, education, roads and communications according to that? or is it only a matter of preserving local culture -a life of poverty and death as it has been during the last hundreds of years

Would you like to have a more comfortable standard of living than the one you have at the time? Sure.. everyone does.. even at the rural level..

Take for instance the rural work at El Camino run by Rev James Mitchell in Colombia, he is trying to implant Internet and improving the educational level of the kids there at a rural community near Barbosa -200 miles away from Bogot=E1-. I offered him my enthusiastic support and I am helping him at the time through my Rotary Club in Bogota.

Thanks for your interest..
