You are right that too many people do not contribute. We are lucky that people like you do.

But I do still wonder if both 'technical' discussion and 'theoretical' discussion might benefit from separation to sister lists. I enjoy abstract discussion (though abstract opinion all too easily becomes polarised). But many who might contribute on practical problems are probably discouraged by the predominance of theory on the list.

Hello! As one who has only recently joined the list, I was waiting to get a "feel" for the discussions in progress before contributing anything directly to the list. I must say that it's a bit disheartening to join a list in the midst of a heated debate that doesn't reflect what I took to be it's main focus.

I joined the list in the hopes of learning more about what is currently being done, and what future plans are in the works. I'm considering dropping this list, but will wait a while in the hopes that this is a dry spell...
