To: Multiple recipients of list DEVEL-L <mailto:DEVEL-L@AMERICAN.EDU>

Dear DEVEL-L readers and list contributors :
I purposely reformatted parts of the FAQ on devel-l, so that
the list contributors could direct their excellent comments,
suggestions and notes to fit under one or more of the issues
and topics outlined under the devel-l purpose.

I have to apologize that my note is long, I had to read this and other Devel-l FAQS carefully so see the pupose, goals and expectations.

I urge, myself, and the devel-l contributors to adhere closely to the aim/pupose/guidelines.

The "FAQ on devel-l" clearly :

1. defines the aim of the list :

>> *** WHAT IS DEVEL-L?
>> --------------------
>> It is a free, public, electronic forum (mailing list)
>> on the subject:
>> "Technology Transfer in International Development."
>>
>> Subscribers automatically receive all postings and a monthly,
>> on-line newsletter, called DevelopNet News.

2. outlines the purpose and scope of the list :

>> *** WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF DEVEL-L?
>> ------------------------------------
>> Through its online discussion forum, Volunteers in
>> Technical Assistance (VITA) encourages the exchange of
>> ideas and information on a wide range of issues and topics
>> included under Technology Transfer in International
>> Development; for example,
>>
>> a) specific technologies,
>> b) communications in development,
>> c) sustainable agriculture,
>> d) women in development,
>> e) the environment,
>> f) small enterprise development,
>> g) meetings, and
>> h) book reviews.

>> General discussions of development are usually off topic.

3. provides guidelines for the list contributors :

>> *** WHAT SHOULD I NOT POST?
>> ----------------------------
>> Please do not send :
>> commercial advertising,
>> spams,
>> flames,
>> very long messages,
>> political advocacy,
>> off-topic messages, and
>> administrative messages to the posting address.

Bye-bye
