***************************************************************** I have today received an announcement of new internship program from Philip Boken, Senior Manager, KPMG Consulting in Moscow. KPMG is initiating an internship program for Russian nationals who are in the first year of their MBA program. I would like to bring this program to the attention of interested/qualified students. Since I cannot locate and inform qualified students directly, my hope is that faculty on this list will know of Russian MBA students who would be interested in applying for the internship. For list members who are not familiar with KPMG Consulting, let me simply note that it is one of the major inter- national consulting firms currently operating in Russia. I am posting this note to several lists, so let me apologize in ad- vance to those list members who receive multiple copies. ***************************************************************** KPMG Consulting Internship Opportunities for Russian Nationals ***************************************************************** If you are a Russian national in the first year of your MBA program and are looking for an exciting opportunity to apply your developing skills in a challenging and dynamic environment, this memo is for you. ----------------------------------------------------------------- KPMG's Mission Statement ----------------------------------------------------------------- KPMG's aim is to turn knowledge into value for the benefit of our clients, our people and our communities. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Business Process Improvement in Russia ------------------------------------------------------------------ KPMG Consulting Moscow is rapidly developing its Business Process Improvement (BPI) practice in Russia. BPI focuses on resolving strategic transformation and restructuring issues via incremental improvement. Our goal is to assist the client through the entire life cycle of its transformation, from strategy and operational improvement through to systems selection and implementation (if applicable to a given client). Initial project stages focus on improving those processes or departments that can provide the greatest short term value (typically measured in impact on prof- itability and cash flow). ----------------------------------------------------------------- Our Internship Program ----------------------------------------------------------------- Within our Russian practice, it is our goal to hire, develop, and promote Russian nationals with the intent of creating a truly Russian local practice. Therefore, as our time in Russia pro- gresses, we continue to step up the emphasis in this area. MBA recruitment is a key to this success. Early identification of full time candidates is often achieved through the use of intern- ship programs. This program will serve several purposes: identification of long term resource candidates, development of general business skills for those who may be more suited for careers in private industry, and provision of fresh ideas to our BPI project teams from MBA candidates who are accepted into our internship programs.
Candidates will typically be staffed on particular engagements and will be expected to contribute as members of a project team. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Internship Skill Set Requirements ----------------------------------------------------------------- If you have the experience to prove you are a high performer, and are highly motivated, organized, aggressive, willing to learn, are looking for immediate responsibility and an opportunity to contribute, you have the core personality traits we require.
Demonstrated experience in core business skills is a must. Knowl- edge/experience in the following areas will set you above other applicants:
* CPA, CIMA, and/or detailed knowledge of RAP/RSA; * Financial Accounting, Cost/Management Accounting, or Budgeting experience; * knowledge of/experience with packaged systems; * experience supervising employees; * experience with Russian joint ventures/multinationals/large Russian conglomerates; * Banking, Energy, Transportation, or Manufacturing industry experience in Russia; and/or * experience in process improvement. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Internship Details ----------------------------------------------------------------- Candidates who are selected for participation in the internship program will receive the following benefits:
* Round trip, economy class ticket from the US to Moscow * Accommodation in a company flat shared with one to three other interns * $1,000 US gross stipend per month * Local training (including self study) on the differences bet- ween US GAAP and Russian RSA (RAP). * Three month commitment, with start date negotiated based on your university's term end/start dates
Interns may be required to work in outlying regions of Russia As this is only a three month internship, there is no paid holiday or overtime provided. General goals are to keep requirements to 40 hours per week. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Application Process ----------------------------------------------------------------- Students who believe they have the skill sets required to con- tribute should email the following to the attention of Philip Boken (mailto:bpi@east.ru) with the notation "MBA BPI Internship" in the subject section:
* Short (half page) cover letter with updated CV * MBA Transcripts to date (including most recently completed semester or quarter) * 250 word essay (in English) telling us how your skill sets will help KPMG provide value to our clients. * 250 word essay (in English) on which Russian company impresses you the most and why.
There is no deadline for receipt of applications. However, the number of internships available is limited (based on project availability). Internships will be awarded based on merit as they are submitted. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Consideration for Full Time Employment ----------------------------------------------------------------- Candidates who are selected for participation in the program will be provided with a constructive assessment of their performance at the end of the term. High performers may be considered for full time employment upon completion of their MBA studies. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Due to the limited number of internships available, we may have to decline internships to qualified candidates. In such cases, we may indicate to the applicant a desire to remain in contact to discuss full time employment opportunities that may become avail- able when the candidate completes his/her MBA program. *****************************************************************
