Witness for Peace is a grassroots, politically independent, faith-based non-profit organization dedicated to the principals of non-violence. Our mission is to change United States policies which contribute to poverty and oppression in Latin America and the Caribbean, and to promote just alternatives. The Grassroots Program Coordinator will work closely with Witness for Peace base of support, including Regional Coordinators. Further, the Grassroots Program Coordinator, along with other staff members -- the International Programs Coordinator, the Grassroots Associate (intern), Membership and Delegations Coordinator and Executive Director-- will form a team to advance our educational and action campaigns and initiatives. The Grassroots Program Coordinator is accountable to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities
-- Oversee the production of the Witness for Peace Newsletter, Bi-Weekly Update and other WFP publications -- Resource Regional Coordinators, and work with the WFP regional network to advance programs, campaigns and initiatives -- Recruit and help train Long Ter m Volunteers for service in Central America -- Participate in the creation and distribution of educational resources and promotional materials; -- Conduct and organize educational and skills-building workshops; -- Develop and organize non-violent action campaigns and initiatives.
Qualifications
-- Extensive knowledge of the cultural, political, and economic condition of countries in Central America and Haiti; -- Extensive knowledge of United States policies toward Central America and Haiti; -- Grassroots organizing experience and background working with volunteers; -- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including computer literacy; -- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and juggle varied tasks;

The Grassroots Program Coordinator position is available immediately. Salary is $25,000, plus a very generous benefits package. The position requires some travel around the US, and to Central America and/or the Caribbean.
