Hello Tom and Greg,
I work with an organization that provided pro bono technical assistance to
get the initial network you describe, up and running in Feb-March 1997. We
provided a uucp email feed over dial-up lines from March 1997 until
September 1998, when the cut-over to the PAS sat IP link occurred. We also
provided some engineering assistance in setting up the satellite
link. (See http://www.nsrc.org/db/lookup/ISO=LR for the background
details, if you're interested.)
I've been concerned about what was happening to the many NGO groups that
were using the services. If you have someone technically inclined in
Monrovia with whom we could work to configure and maintain a server, we'd
happy to provide some assistance - pro bono. We also have friends in
neighboring countries - Togo, Ghana, la Cote d'Ivoire, etc. who might be
willing to help.
(Btw, Tom, we're neighbors - I'm in Eugene, OR.)
