Volunteers in Technical Assistance (VITA) and Haitian-Americans for Economic Development (HAFED) are implementing a USAID-sponsored Skills Bank to facilitate the rapid mobilization of human skills resources to assist Haiti in its transition to a stable democracy and sustainable economic growth. The Skills Bank is developing a database of Haitian-Americans, Haitian citizens residing in Haiti, and to a lesser extent non- Haitian Americans who have technical skills of value to the private and public sectors of Haiti--including the health, education, public administration, finance, agriculture, business, economic, justice, environmental, and food security sectors. The Skills Bank is designed to respond to specific needs of employers such as the Government of Haiti, the Haitian private sector and business associations, international development organizations, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
