Hello fellow DEVEL-L participants,Yes, this is a request for help, so if you're short on time delete me now.
I am looking, as mentioned in the Subj line, for PhD programs dealing with the Social Dimension(s) of natural resource conservation. This is a very broad topic, I know, but I'm open to any suggestions you might have.
A bit about me: I just finished an M.A. in International Development Studies-Anthropology at the George Washington University in DC where my specialty became the anthropology and political ecology of conservation and development (especially in southern and eastern Africa). I am also interested in issues related to the communication of grassroots concerns in the developing world to a broader audience in the developed world. I am now working at IUCN-the World Conservation Union in the Social Policy Group on issues related to the concept and practice of collaborative management. I'm starting to cast about for programs that fit this background for the '97-'98 academic year.
The results, if any, of this posting will be made available to other students of development at the GW Overseas Development Network website after two weeks. GW-ODN can be found at http:\\gwis2.circ.gwu.edu\~odn\career.html or if you're also a student and are interested in the same issues, please contact me and we can share information.
