I highly recommend EQUITABLE SHARING OF BIODIVERSITY BENEFITS: AGREEMENTS ON GENETIC RESOURCES by Joshua P. Rosenthal of the Fogarty International Center. This paper summarizes lessons from the International Co-operative Biodiversity Groups (ICBGs), and demonstrates the importance of IPR agreements specific to the circumstances of individual projects. The importance given by the partners in the ICBGs to equitable sharing of benefits is in part due to the leadership exercised by Josh, Fracesca Grifo, Jeff Schweitzer, Gordon Cragg and other U.S. government officials who wrote the program guidelines, and to a project review mechanism which included IPR specialists in the review panels as well as scientific experts.
