I highly recommend EQUITABLE SHARING OF BIODIVERSITY BENEFITS:
AGREEMENTS ON GENETIC RESOURCES by Joshua P. Rosenthal of the Fogarty
International Center.  This paper summarizes lessons from the
International Co-operative Biodiversity Groups (ICBGs), and demonstrates
the importance of IPR agreements specific to the circumstances of
individual projects.  The importance given by the partners in the ICBGs
to equitable sharing of benefits is in part due to the leadership
exercised by Josh, Fracesca Grifo, Jeff Schweitzer, Gordon Cragg and
other U.S. government officials who wrote the program guidelines, and to
a project review mechanism which included IPR specialists in the review
panels as well as scientific experts.  The URL for the paper is:
