HEALTH CRISIS MITIGATION SPECIALIST-OFDA/WashingtonThe U.S. Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA)of the U.S. Agency for International Development is recruiting for the position of Health Crisis Mitigation Specialist. This will be a two year Personal Services Contract (PSC) starting as soon as possible, with possible renewal. Salary range is $54,629- $71,017.
The successful candidate will be OFDA's technical, analytical and program support health expert and program leader for activities mitigating potential health crisis. The candidate will lead the team responsible for developing OFDA's emergency health strategy as well as planning, monitoring, and evaluating OFDA's country and regional health programs and activities.
Duties Include:
Develop and implement an integrated OFDA health crisis mitigation program.
Provide technical expertise for monitoring and evaluation of OFDA-supported emergency response, prevention, mitigation, preparedness/training, and planning efforts.
Prepare an integrated OFDA health strategy.
Provide technical expertise for OFDA-funded health activities worldwide.
Take lead responsibility for developing linkages between OFDA's health mitigation efforts and other donors' relief activities.
Coordinate OFDA divisions for specific interventions and actions to address relevant health issues; keep OFDA staff informed about USAID related health activities.
Provide technical backstopping to regional and field staff; travel as required to assess and to support country strategies and programs; participate on Disaster Assistance Response Teams (DARTs) or emergency assessment teams.
Qualifications
Strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills.
Field experience with at least 5 years of demonstrated application in health sector with USAID, PVOs/NGOs and/or international organizations.
Experience with USAID procedures and programming is essential; hands-on program management experience is preferable.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing is essential.
Master's degree in a health-related field is minimum.
Substantive knowledge of the following areas is required: public health, epidemiology, nutrition, maternal health/child survival planning and program development, and management of international health programs; knowledge of emergency health issues is useful.
Must be willing and able to travel overseas under hazardous conditions.
Foreign language skills a plus.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
USAID Secret level security clearance will be required.
