There are a couple things Dr. Mayfield can check. I think devel-l is
set up to allow only subscribers to post. Your email puts a From: line
in all the email you send out - and devel-l checks that From: line
against the list of subscribers. If there is no exact match, your
post will be rejected (I am guessing a little but this is how listserv
software generally works).

Dr. Mayfield can send a message to mailto:listserv@american.edu with NO subject line, saying review devel-l and he/she should get a message containing all the subscribers' names and email addresses. Compare your From: line with your email address in the "review" message, they must be identical to post.

If they are different, start the "set up" for your email software and make your From: information identical to what is registered with devel-l. (Note that you may also need to do this to unsubscribe wiothout the help of the listowner). Note also that this From: information could have changed in several ways with no action on your part, your internet provider could have changed something, perhaps some new/upgraded email or web software could have slipped a change by you, ...

If you prefer your current From: data, you will need to change it anyway, then unsub, change the From: data back to what you want, then resubscribe. Or get the list owner (a very busy person with many other duties) to fix your entry in the devel-l address list.

Good luck, Tom Hodges
